Two ways
to move.
Some stories are told through classical lines. Others take a completely different shape. Both belong on our stage.
CLASSICAL BALLET
Precision matters.
So does what you do with it.
Classical ballet calls for technique, musicality and an understanding of the tradition. But a beautiful line alone isn't the whole story. We want to see interpretation, artistry and the dancer behind the steps.
Perform a variation from the classical repertoire, or present original choreography rooted in classical ballet. Pointe work is permitted from age 12.
CONTEMPORARY
No single vocabulary.
No one way to tell a story.
Contemporary dance leaves room for invention. For unexpected choices, physical expression and choreography with something to say. It can be quiet. It can be daring. What matters is the intention behind the movement.
We look for individuality, movement quality, musical interpretation and a clear artistic vision. Technique matters, of course. But so does the courage to make the work your own.
Solo.
Duet.
Group.
One dancer can hold an entire stage. So can two. Or a whole ensemble.
ArtéBallét Competition welcomes solo performances, duets and group choreographies in both Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance. Choose the format that best serves your work.
